Hi Shaun, All the dealers are following the VM guidelines regarding the front to back replacement when petrol is put into a common rail diesel, the reasoning from VM & the likes of Bosch, Delphi & Siemens is that the petrol has no lubricity, where as the diesel is a good lubricant, the petrol washes the coating of lubricant away & thus causes wear, the high pressure pump & the injectors are manufactured to a tolerance of less than one micron (far more accurate than any petrol stuff) thus any wear at all will affect running & fuelling. Having said all of this, I have heard of many people who have done exactly what you have done, with no short term problems. The only problem I can foresee is premature pump of injector failure due to excessive wear, but this is not going to be seen for a while & would be difficult quantify by then anyway & the chances of severe wear in such a short time is minimal. To my mind you have done the right thing & chances are the shortened life of any of these components would not warrant 5K spent now on a front to back replacement procedure. HTH Rob.
