    Hi All

I have received an enquiry from the company below. Have a read, and if you
are interested and feel that you garage meets the criteria, then contact
Nick Watson (details at bottom of post)

.......< "Endemol UK are developing a new show based in the motor trade.
Provisionally called 'The Garage' we are looking to film a series of
documentaries in an independent garage. In each programme we will follow a
variety of stories based on the jobs coming through, the customers and the
staff who work there. We do not plan a hidden camera expose of the industry
in the vein of 'Garages From Hell'.

The series will be entertaining, informative and it will simultaneously give
an insight into what it's like to work a garage and demystify what happens
at your local garage. We hope 'The Garage' will do for mechanics what 'Vets
In Practice' did for veterinarians - give an insiders view of the industry,
showing what happens when you drop your car off at the garage and why.

The series will show that there are good guys out there doing their best to
    help customers with their cars.

We are looking for an independent garage (not in the London area), large enough to support a
talkative staff of at least five, that preferably has a sideline or hobby in
a specialized activity (e.g. customizing vehicles, running a racing team,
    renovating muscle cars).

Why an independent garage? Two reasons: 1. Because of broadcasting
regulations we cannot give any one car manufacturer 'undue prominence',
which means we can't make a programme that only features one or two makes of
car. 2. We want the programme to help demystify the garage trade, and
therefore we need someone to alert viewers to why franchised garages are
sometime more expensive and the kind of scams that unscrupulous garages
    might pull on their customers.

Why do we need a large garage? A significant part of the programme will
focus on the lives of the people working in the garage, their experiences,
interests and skills. For this to work we need a garage with good characters
(no wallflowers) and the more employees the better.

Why specialized work or hobbies as well as 'normal' work? We're planning on
making a series of 13 one hour long programmes and it can get a bit
relentless if all the work going through the garage is running MOT checks
and servicing cars. Having another string to our bow that allows us to look
at a different aspect of the motor trade and the employees and could make
the difference between an interesting one-off programme on life in a garage
and a series that can run and run." >.......
