    Block Exemption again! Archived Message

    Hi all,
My new (1 year old now) Suzuki Carry van had to go back to the dealers for gearbox work under warranty and as it was a year old they said it was due for a service(9,000 miles or 1 year) so I enquired as to how much they would charge, everbody sitting down? £190 plus vat! So then I asked about the Block Exemption Regulations and could I do it myself without it affecting the warranty. The nice lady at reception told me I had to be VAT registered to do it but would check with someone else, the service manager then tells me that as I'm in the trade if I bought the service kit off them and I did the service as per the service schedule, which they supplied, then all would be OK. So I asked for a service kit and guess what I got, an oil filter and a sump plug washer! £8.37p! and the service schedule? You've guessed it, an oil and filter change and kick all the wheels! £190 plus! I've got to put my charges up!
    Regards,
    Derek
