Wouldn't have thought so Mike, when we have had warranty issues with Ford parts for example we get told by Ford to take the whole vehicle to our local Ford dealer where they will take care of it parts and labour. Pass the problem onto your local VW dealer who supplied you with the engine to get it sorted.
