You need to request a report of your equipment to check it's correct. You request it and it arrives the next working day. Basically very little of ours was correct, e.g our Hartridge MKIII beam tester had become a Hartridge MKII brake tester, our tread depth gauge had somehow got the serial no. of our Sun brake tester and so on. The upshot of all this is that the main computer thinks you haven't got the correct equipment to do the test and won't let you proceed. We've found it much quicker to use the full VIN rather than the last six digits when identifying the vehicle. For some vehicles there are not many alternatives, for others a large number of possible choices. It helps to have had some experience with a system like Autodata or Bosch ESI. You'd think there should only be one choice for a given chassis no., this is not the case.
