Hi Paul. I haven't done a 405 recently, but we have done some 306 models, On the 306 we drop the steering column and then you can get straight to it. ( Stupid idea but it is french.)
On some of the older ones, someone has to reach over from the passenger side whilst someone holds the brake pedal down. H.T.H.
