Re: Scissor lifts
Posted by aidan birley on November 21, 2006, 8:29 pm, in reply to "Scissor lifts" we have had a short platform scissor lift for 3 years and it has been brill ! very pleased with it. works much the same as a two poster in as much as lifting points under the sills. Minus points, poor access to inner sill area, can be problem on some fuel filters & brake pipes. We made up some large blocks and frame for lifting old 4x4 on chassis. ours is a (hoffman now Maywood) The lift is good but the after sales & parts is very poor, so don't buy from these. Aidan

Re: Scissor lifts
Posted by Robert Nicholson on November 22, 2006, 6:18 pm, in reply to "Scissor lifts" agree with Aidan, you can`t always change fuel filter etc on them but limitations are minimal, we use a short platform one which can lift virtually anything using different blocks, there is certainly some work to installing a flush fit as Steve said but if you can...I got a couple of guys from local building firm over a weekend and was charged about £600 we then installed ourselves, but again had to borrow a forking lift but sure you can hire one reasonable. We also have a 4M full length one (not for MOT though) it`s the type with built in lifting tables, these tables lift that high from the main platform it is virtually same as using a 2 poster! If I ever upgrade MOT lift to ATL I would go for scissor as when using shaker plates ramp does not `float` between posts. We also use new Sun & older Hoffman both these are Texo made and v good quality hth regards Rob
