Floor press recommendations please .....

Evening all,

has anyone recently purchased a "good quality" floor press they would recommend ?

I have a Sealey 10 ton which sometimes has trouble pushing out hub bearings but a guy round the corner has the 20 ton version and there's nothing it hasn't shifted yet!

I have 15 ton sealey and it has done everything I have wanted it to yet (hope I'm not tempting fate)

I've got a thirty ton press that operates off a bottle jack. I have replaced the thirty ton jack with a twenty ton air operated one (easier to crush filters). Would recommend one with a bottle jack as this is the only part that normally will go wrong and are easy and cheap to replace.

We have a 15 tonne Clarke press from Machine Mart. Works really well and has quite a wide 'bench' area. The beauty of machine mart stuff is you can easily order spares when they are out of warranty.

I use a Clarke 15 ton(machine mart). Has given good service over the past 6yrs.It shows you the working pressure on a gauge so you won,t overload and bend the bed.also has a two stage pump which is useful.

Clarke and Sealey are the two i've seen, just didn't look of " substantial build "

Will check on warranty and availability of replacement parts before i buy

Hi Paul, you probably won't find anything that looks "well made", most workshop equipment these days is mass produced crap but it's all there is!
You probably can buy "proper" equipment from some where but it will cost mega bucks. I have a 30 tonne model which is a bit over the top but I like you thought they looked shite so I bought the sturdiest one I could afford! Another option is to try and pick one up from engineering equipment auctioneers but you have to be in the right place at the right time to pick up a bargain.

Hi Paul,
If you are looking for something a bit different to the usual "red presses" out there, you could try Weber Hydrauliks or Majorlift. Neither of them are made in the far east. Unfortunately this is reflected in the price.

Hi,
We have a Sealey 30 tonne one, which has 2 bed sizes, useful for larger width items.

I haven't seen the pressure go above 20 tonnes though, I just wanted a more substantial press.

If you want to buy a good press try lions equipment in Buckinghamshire.They carry a vast range and are good quality.
