ANY IDEAS RE PUTTING PRESSURE ON VM`S

HELLO ALL,
HAVING LIMITED KNOWLEDGE REGARDING LAW IN TERMS OF BREAKING TRADING LAWS OR BLOCK EXEMPTION RULES,CAN SOME ONE TELL ME APART FROM WHAT RULES ARE BEING BROKEN.WHO IS THE TOP OF THE TREE OR WHERE DO THE COMPLAINTS END UP (IN AN IDEAL WORLD)!
ARE WE BEATEN ON THE INFO AND OTHER AREA`S OF OUR TRADE? OR IS IT WE NEED TO KICK THE RIGHT GROIN?
DOES ANYONE REMEMBER A FEW YEARS AGO,A MAN ALMOST SINGLE HANDED HELPED THE PUBLIC BEAT FUEL PRICES DOWN?
DO WE GO TO THE PRESS OR MPS,CAN WE SUE THE B******S ?

WE ROLL OVER ON TOO MANY THINGS!

Clive, manufacturers do provide data and diagnostic equipment. The problem is they need to protect the investment they have made in research and development. So they use stalling tactics releasing information etc. If their hand was forced with regards block exemption they will simply provide has much data and information as you need at a massive cost. A cost that they know the independents cannot afford. So you are fighting a losing battle. The future of independent car repair is very uncertain at the moment. I could also go on about the advancement of vehicle technology and the skills gap between electronic graduates who design the cars and the people like you and me who repair them.
P.S If a car technician revolution is on the cards I don't think it will start in this country it will probably start in France, remember the French farmers blockading the ports and bringing France to its knees to stop the import of British beef !!!!! "Viva La France"

A nearby garage was telling me today that they had sent a Vauxhall to a dealer for a burnt out starter to be replaced under warranty. Although the car was out of the 3 year warranty it had recently had a new starter fitted by a Vauxhall garage (only a few months ago). The dealer rang to say they would not replace the starter as the car had already had one fitted under warranty.

I thought a replacement part should be covered for 12 months - but evidently not if it is a replacement!

WELL GRAHAM AT LEAST MOST OF THE DEALERS ARE CONSISTENT! I REALLY DON`T GET THE ALL TOO USUAL BLOODY POOR SERVICE MAIN DEALERS GIVE!
THAT SAID IT IS GOOD FOR THE INDEPENDENT REPAIRERS

I ALSO AGREE WITH PAUL THAT THE TRADE HAS A REALLY UNCERTAIN FUTURE,WITH KIT NEEDED,( I USED TO GET BY WITH A FEW HUNDRED POUNDS OF KIT) REPAIRS THAT WE CANNOT DO/FINISH.
ONE CONCERN HAS TO BE PRICES OF NEW CARS AND LONGER WARRANTY PERIODS.
ARE THE CHINESE GOING TO PUSH PRICES EVEN LOWER WITH CARS AS WELL AS ALMOST EVERYTHING ELSE?
HOW LONG BEFORE CARS ARE TREATED LIKE A DVD PLAYER,GONE WRONG? HERE HAVE A NEW ONE!
AT 46,I AM TRYING TO GET TO CANADA BUT WHERE EVER I GO WILL I BE REPAIRING CARS PAST 50?
ON A POSITIVE NOTE IF YOU ARE A GOOD CAR TECH YOU ARE SMARTER AND MORE CAPABLE OF TURNING YOUR MIND TO ANOTHER CHALLENGE THAN YOU GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT FOR!

(BELIEVE YOU CAN OR BELIEVE YOU CAN`T,EITHER WAY YOU WILL BE RIGHT!(GARY GENTILE TECHNICAL DIVER)
PS NEVER BEEN TO BRITISH COLUMBIA?
GO IT IS FANTASTIC!
