Block Exemption

Hi guys,

I have a question about block exemption, I know that we have to use genuine parts in order not to invalidate main dealer warranty. Is that still the case with oil? Does that have to be from the main dealer?

Hi

You don't have to use O.E parts, but they need to be certified as OE quality. Same applies to oil, must be O.E Specification, but need not be OE brand.

to be honest you can quite often by Genuine parts as cheap as OE spec parts.

Vauxhall trade club prices for oil and filters are very good value for money and i always use GM service items on.

Toyota, Nissan, Renault all now seem to have deals on service items in my area so not sure if its a nationwide scheme but may be worth looking into.

As Aiden says, they need to be 'Matching Quality' parts, as described by the European Union. This means they need to be the big brand stuff, but not necessarily the OE parts.

True enough, some OE parts are as cheap as from the factors, but you will need to check that out.

If you specialise in one or two makes the makers' trade clubs could make sense. If you work on all makes then your monthly spend at each individual dealer may not ensure really good service. Whereas, if you use one good all makes factor for the bulk of your spares purchases, your high monthly spend will certainly have an influence on the level of service, discounts and delivery frequency that you receive.
