Waste oil heaters - Licence fee cost? #

Does anyone know how much the licence fee is for a waste oil heater, i am thinking of getting one but if the fee is astronomical it may not be a practical. Kind Rewards Roger.

I think we pay about £70 pa in staffordshire.

Hello Roger,
when I bought a second hand one a few years ago, I enquired about a license and was told that it would be approx £300 for our council area, so I sold it again.

I presume then that you have a PRS licence for the radio ???

Our local Environment agency has prosecuted a couple of companies recenlty for not having the correct paperwork in place for waste disposal. I think one fine was around £23,000 and the other was around £17,000. In both cases they had been doing everything correctly except the paperwork trail. I am sure they would not hesitate if they found no licence in place for a waste oil heater, thankfully they don't have anything to do with radio noise pollution.

Hi Sean you are in the kirklees area like us, £160.00 not to bad i was expecting a lot more, but where does the money and all the other money we pay in environmental taxes go to, does anybody know.

Dont even get me on my high horse about this!!
£160 off any business that "ommits smoke" into the atmosphere!! gggrrrrrwe have run our waste oil burner for years,its well worth the £160. the council will require you to keep a log book.
in it you just note each date you light it and the amount of "visible" smoke been given out. they will send a guy around in a nice suit once a year (they tell you when he is coming) to inspect the heater,they havent a clue what they are looking at so just give it a good clean and it passes!
