Wheel Alignment Equipment #

I am currently in the process of buying wheel aligment equipment, I have looked at Corgi Exact 70, John Bean Prism and 3D Light and am stuck as to which is the best equipment, please has anyone got any experience or advice, good or bad, which will help me decide which equipment to buy or any other suggestions. We have supertracker, one of the bets bits of equipment we ever bought.

Hi Russell,

We have a Supertracker too, good piece of eqiupment but recently I have realised one disadvantage. The Supertracker hangs on top of the tyre, this makes it difficult if not impossible to use on cars with lowered suspension and especially kit cars with cycle type front mudgaurds. Supertracker have told me they have brought out hanging bracket for bigger diameter wheels to get around this. I don't think it will and I will be speaking to them again soon.
I think it is worth considering the type where the alignment guage clamps on to wheel rim.

Hi Russell,

We have the Corghi Exact 70 and it is very good. Accurate and user friendly. Support from Bruce at Appaseal is also very good.

I have not used any others to compare, but I am happy with it.

As well as the aligner, you'll ideally need a hoist long enough not to foul the wheel units and the platform should be level. Either that or a long pit in a level floor.

Thanks I have an Exact 70 on demo at the moment and used it a few times on Range Rover sport, Corsa D And a lowered Saxo which it did ok. I have looked at the John Bean Prism but dont like the idea you have to jack the back up to do the runout, although I now if its a customer off the street you don,t know you need to check for play etc so should have to raise the wheels anyway but if a car you have just serviced it,s extra time rather than the push pull like the corgi.

Just one thing with the Corghi Rod that did the demo said that on a new unit it would have some info on whether a vehicle is adjustable and how , have you got this info on yours Mark if so how useful is it as it doesn't seem to be on the demo unit.

Ive just bought a Maha scissor lift with slip plates & midrise scissor so just need to get it set in the ground & decide on which alignment kit. Any more advice is welcome.

Hi Russ,

There is a smart card available that goes into the card reader for this extra info. The pictures are quite detailed and there are animations too if you can't work out what does what.

They should really let you see these before you decide to buy or not...
