Wedding Day Will Be A Public Holiday #

Evening all. Just wanted to here your views on this Government Announcement. And what effects with it have on your business.

Will be working same as any other public or bank holiday, but we are a family run business so doesn't really affect us too much, if anything might make the day busier, but for those with employees I guess yet another added expense?

Since the minimum holiday entitlement went up to 4 weeks, bank holidays can be counted as part of an employee's annual leave. IIRC you can't make them work a BH if they don't want to.

Lets hope the government helps with the wages bill as they havn't got to pay for the wedding.(pigs might fly)

Two long weekends in a row i can see it will be hell on earth both sides of it, with the kids off for Easter hols as well.

Policing the event though still has to be paid for by the TAX payer, why? as it was there choice to get married.

Having said that i like the idea of another bank holiday.

Hi All,

Reluctantly had to turn my wedding invite down as I will be busy working on that day!

With regard to the policing aspect, this is no different to other events such as demo's etc which comes out of the tax-payers pocket.

The problem I have with this farse is that: we are closed the Monday and now the Friday so a three day working week at a cost of lost revenue to my business of around £4500. Another thing I have noticed my arse is squeeking when I walk.

If this is such a big issue to some of you then stay open. The customers aren't all going to other garages on the 29th so you'll just have to manage the workload around it. I'll expect to find several keys in the letter box on the Tuesday morning and it'll all settle down in a week or so.

......I can see where Dick is coming from. The customer will find no where open so he will have to wait a few days until normality is resumed. Mind you, there will be people like me who will take advantage of the situation..

I was 4 yrs old and just getting ready for big school! It will cost me about the same keith but you have to admit theres nothing wrong with a long weekend, take the wife away for a break make it count.
