I Have been fitting Steering & Suspension components manufactured by FAI Auto for many years & I have been quite satisfied with the quality & price. However the last couple of years have shown a marked increase in amount of premature failures of their Anti Roll Bar Link Rods.
The problem appears to be with the very poor quality rubber used for their dust covers. I have seen them come back in after only a few months & found them to be perished very badly.
As far as I am aware, this problem does not effect the other products in the FAI range, such as Track Rods & Ball Joints.
I have mentioned this to our factors & they say that they have reported it back to FAI, but they get the standard response.... "Oh! We haven't heard of any problems"
Here is an example of a couple of link rods that we fitted 11 months ago to a Fiat Stilo.......
We had exactly the same issue with TCC components from anndrew page, we just don't buy them anymore, in fact we only buy the premium stuff now for most components.
Fitted FAI drop links supplied by the customer to a Seat Toledo twice and each time he was back a month or so later complaining about a noise /rattle from front suspension. Solution, we fitted Febi and haven't heard from him since
