Looked at a 2002 Honda Civic today for an airbag/horn fault.Car needs spiral/clockspring assy.Phoned main dealer, only to be told that this part is now obsolete!I thought maufacturers had some time limit on parts supply but surely a 14 year old Honda is not now deemed too old to fix.

They have, its 10 years unfortunately. We have just had the same problem with a 2004 Corsa SRi,and that is right on 10 years old, wing mirrors not available and no after market supplier. Andy
I had the same problem a few years ago with a speedo sensor for a Ford Probe that was over 10 years old and part was obsolete.
Might be worth seeing if your dealer can check for stock in the rest of Europe as my Ford dealer located the part I needed in Germany and it didn't actually cost that much extra to get it sent from there.

I remember the days of Cavalier estates when the body panels became obsolete whilst they were still in the showroom!
