Remapping #

HI all,
what's your views on remapping? I'm thinking of getting a genius 2.
Is it profitable? Any problems?
Any comments welcome .

Just started remapping my self with black code and a version of kess .seems to work well and if you join the bank of black code good deal to be had !!!but you will need to to at least 4 remaps a month .

Just had this link forwarded to me by a remapping friend of mine, GM in the states are now voiding warranties on vehicles with non standard Engine/trans calibrations..

One of my guys used to work at a vauxhall dealer, all VXR engine failures would not be carried out under warrantee, unless the ecu had been sent to vauxhall for testing first.

Hi,
Took this out and now are official dealers for bhp uk.
Haven't done one yet so will update when I do.
Regarding warranty's we are targeting 3 year plus cars out of any guarantee!

Done my first one yesterday on a fiat ducato camper, very easy and quick. I have got a couple booked in next week. So far so good. Looks like there's money to be made.
My next closet remap centre is 30 miles away!

Hi,
Not getting on with this as well as first thought.
I done a 307 3 times till it would stop throwing up a turbo over boost fault, also used my diagnostics foc to cure fault.
Had a Kia 2.5 td which when customer took it a way phoned me up and complained at bad flat spots! Going to have to put it back to normal. Will persevere but many more problems and it will be up for sale !
Just like to add the guy's at BHP UK are excellent and sort all issues out !

My mot man is also my re-mapper, he did a 140 to 170 remap on my old A4 BKD, that was interesting, changed that car , now got a 170 stock PD A4, that he has mapped up to 215 hp, that is great, but you have to be careful in lower gears as it lights front tyres up !! He is Celtic tuning registered, using Kess V2, he is saying now that the whole obd port upgrade is in decline, ECU's now have to be physically removed and updated on a bench, he, like you, has also had maps that have introduced driveability issues, these maps are so fine tuned nowadays, not sure re-mapping on a modern motor is such a good idea,

This will always be a problem, so many variations of controllers and software and mechanical setups. These generic files that these tuning companies knock out are just garbage and a lot of the times untested.

Managed to persuade Kia owner to let me alter map. All good on test drive time will tell.

Think you may now be flogging a dead horse Shane, the boom years were 5 to ten years ago, you would be a brave man to take an ECU out of a high tec Beemer, Audi, VW, with all the emmission control systems built in, let alone what VOSA or whatever they are called now will introduce in the future, the DPF straight pipe bypass is now a fail, lots of motorists who thought they had found a get around, are soon going to be severely shocked, they then come back to the garage that knocked the guts out of the DPF and had their tuning company delete DPF software, saying " I took your advice,I now have an illegal car, what are you going to do about it ".
