New Mot system Quality Control #

What are people doing about there "Quality control management procedure" requirements, now that its our responsibility to record and manage it?
Or is it the wrong time to be asking about that with all the other stuff going on?

I'm filling a check sheet in for each tester for qc, attaching it to a copy of certificate or failure, and keeping a list on the wall. Doing it for each tester, each class, once a month, total of 9 qc's per month.

The other issue is, to get best score on risk assessment, you have to have your qc system audited by an independent person.
A couple of garages in the area are getting together to form a group to do this for each other. The rules don't state who it has to be, so we think this qualifies.

Thanks Nigel.
That's more or less what we are doing for tester QC, which hopefully is enough, good idea about site assessment.
We have discussed this with another garage but weren't sure if it was adequate.
Anybody got an opinion

You are doing way to many QC's you only need to do them every 2 month's and then only in each group not Class so 3 4 5 & 7 (group B) are only one group so any one of these will do.

copy & paste from VOSA admin guide below.

Doing to many QC's wont score extra brownie points, just indicates you don't know the rules.

Our area officer indicated that is what he wanted, while we're stuck with him I'll do it how he wants. The guidelines are a minimum (his words)

We have an old guy testing, who only does class 4, the question was asked why I hadn't qc'd him on class 7, even though he hadn't done any for 12 months.

We have 5 testers, 3 class 4+7, 1 class 4,5+7, and me (the qc).

I think it may be added to because its two separate lanes, different equipment and layout.

Bit of a bore when VOSA staff don't understand there own system.

Ask him if its OK to fail a tyre at 2mm, as the 1.6 is a Minimum.

We are using an SMTA rep to do a site assessment and one QC every sis months. The rest we are doing ourselves
