So now you can diagnose your own vehicle, it will tell you what the problem is so you don't get fooled by your mechanic
Why do we need a Petition to Licence the motor trade when anyone with an iPhone can do our job

I don't know Peter, yes it may take some of the easy pickings away, but it still won't solve the more complex problems. Especially when they've been mis-guided with their diagnosis!
Customer turned up wanting a new EGR valve. Prior to fitting said EGR valve, asked them if they would like any other services, eg pre-diagnosis, or fault code confirmation? They declined. Suspicion sets in, when the EGR valve is already new.....
Came back 2 days later - "EGR must be faulty," a diagnosis fee must be agreed before any Fitted In Service warranty work is carried out I'm afraid. Alternatively, we can carry out a £48 software update that will cure the fault, the choice is yours!! We did offer, but you refused the initial diagnosis, which would have included the software update and fixed the fault with no parts, instead of just replacing the EGR valve at your insistence.... Now, pay your bill and bugger off!
Another good one: brake pedal sinking to the floor, their own garage diagnosed servo, but couldn't replace it..... Customer flatly refused a second opinion, when queried. Fitted Brake servo, fault still there.
Customer returned it to the original garage, who then booked it in too us, to replace the master cylinder. On questioning them, they didn't want to spend on diagnosis!
So I replaced the Master cylinder, fault still present. The garage (with customer present) then, came up to watch us carry out the bleed procedure, as they were sure we were not doing it correctly.....
After proving to them that we were indeed using the diagnostic equipment correctly to bleed the brakes, I casually pointed out the front wheel bearing was hanging off, and would be the cause of the poor feel to the pedal!!!!
