There are no fault codes present
EGR has been blanked off.
MAF sensor scoped OK & swapped for known good one.
Fuel pressure good (even during hesitation).
CTS data is credible at all times.
O2 sensor switching nicely.
Fuel trims good.
Emissions good (cruise & idle).
Injectors all have 15.1 Ohms resistance & scoped ok.
TPS scoped OK.
The interesting bits are....
When the hesitation occurs, the injector PW is too low. WOT from cold I get 6.0 ms duration. Sometimes when it is up to temperature it will struggle to pull its revs & the injector duration will be 8.0 ms at 3,500 RPM (WOT). As the engine reaches 4,200 RPM, suddenly it will clear & pull like a train. At this point, the injector duration can be seen to shift from 8.0ms upto 12.0ms The other relevant point is that the Calculated Engine Load, during the hesitant phase, is approx 38% & at the point that it “clears” the calculated engine load shifts from the 38% region upto approx 68%. The O2 readings also shift from a lean to rich state as the fault subsides.
I am coming to the end of my "to do list" now. I haven't yet tried it with the HEGO removed, although I don't think it’s an exhaust blockage type fault (but you never know).
There is one niggle that I have noticed in live data. Barometric pressure reading is static at 68mb. I expect to see 995mb (ish). I found a sensor on the nearside inner wing, that resembles a MAP sensor & it vents to atmosphere. I scoped it & viewed a variable frequency, when a vacuum was applied with my Mitty. Live data on the scanner (Snappy) showed a steady 68mb at all times. (even unplugged).
I hope no one died from boredom from reading my drawn out post, but any ideas would be appreciated. The car is a tidy old thing, belonging to an old guy who would like it sorted.
Cheers all
Dave (Hill)
PS. Darren, dont you dare be rude to me. Or I will send Paula to sort ya!
