Hi Dave i remember the same fault as you have with a crysler voyger.
if you Disconnect cam sensor car would start and run as your is doing .
valve timing was checked and was found correct.it was only when they removed cam wheel they found that the pin had sheared on
camshaft. also possible on crank.you cuold also do a vacuam test
which would show if its wrong.
