Year of Manufacture *: 1998 Engine Code or Type *: 4E - FE ( Optional ) Scanner used: ACR4 G2
This vehicle has severe misfire and only runs on Nos 2 & 3 cylinders. Occaisonally it will run on all cylinders but will drop off Nos 1 & 4 when revved above about 2500rpm. The coil pack associated with numbers 1 & 4 cylinders can be seen to be not operating when it is on 2 cylinders. Fault code 14 is stored (Ignition signal - No signal) and another one relating to CTS which has not been investigated. These can be cleared but re-appears although EML does not illuminate. Continuity on the 4 wires from ECU to coil pack have been checked ok but signal from ECU to coil pack is poor. According to AD, the coil packs have amp incorporated. Another second hand coil has been obtained with same results and inter-changing the coil packs proves that they appear to be ok. A second hand ECU has been obtained but the results are exactly the same. Looking at AD, it appears that the ECU should be coded to the car, but this was not required. Any ideas would be most welcome. Thanks Pete M
