Year of Manufacture *: 1997
Engine Code or Type *: J7T760 (Automatic)
( Optional ) ECU Type: Siemens
Customer says car would run but not respond to throttle. Next day, no start at all. AA said spark ok but very weak - if any - injector pulse. After putting it off for as long as possible, I went out and it started and ran fine. Tried plugging in various scanners - no comms!
Looking further, someone has permanently earthed one of the two relays under the ecu - a pink/grey wire - but it obviously didn't fix it.
I'm suspecting ecu but concerned that if I send it away it will come back 'no fault found'.
Does anyone know where the ecu earths are? Trouble is the head gasket is on its' way and we're very close to beyond economic repair. Customer hasn't had it long enough for scrappage scheme and his previous car (1250 fiesta) blew two engines in 4 months. I'd like to try and help the guy out ...and no, I didn't suggest he buy a safrane!!!
Have a good weekend,
Richard
