Had this range rover in for "poor running", wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding will idle ok all day long though !
Error code P0340 present, Camshaft sensor or timing between cams and crank !
Scoped the cam sensor....
Absolutely crap out put, feed and earth ok, wiring to cam sensor has been got at by a 6 year old (looks like it anyway ! :D ) but...is this the problem ??
Scope the cam and crank together next.....
Notice the "missing" tooth, 11 peaks to the right of TDC marker !! So I removed the bellhousing lower cover to inspect the reluctor ring.....
Next I scoped the ignition coil driver wires at the ECU......
This an animation of the 4 ignition coils at idle and then revved up....
So, is the missing tooth on the flywheel reluctor ring, responsible for the coils shutting down, 2 at a time ?
