I did consider the "TPS Throttle Flare" MOD as a possible reason for my issue, that is why I hard wired it direct from the TMAP to the PCM, to eliminate any outside influences.
Anyways, I rang the dealer for some numbers for the correct ECU for this car & they confirmed that the one I had on the car, was in fact for a 1998 KA & as we know, they have a MAF system.
I managed to swap the second hand one for the right unit & hety presto Job done!
For the record the relavant numbers are.....
LPE 322 (BACA in big letters) is for the TMAP type.
LPE 627 (AREA in big letters) is for the MAF type
