This £50 scan tool which you think is a waste of time is used primarily for graphing purposes for such items as HO2 sensors, MAP, MAF, CTS etc and as such is a convenient piece of kit for "1st look" purposes. If I find something which require detailed examination then I would then set up and use Pico.
As far as fault codes are concerned, again it is used as "1st look" backed up by ACR G2. This is the first time it has shown something that G2 has not - hence my interest. I have also intimated in my first post that I believe this to be a software error somewhere and also that this vehicle is pre-EOBD. So although I thank you for your lesson in the details of EOBD protocol, I am already well versed in it.
