Hi Paul,
You could scope the temp sensor on a long time base, say along with the crank sensor. Any increase in idle speed will be seen in the crank sensor waveform.
Then you could just leave the motor idling, that will then pick up and record any glitch present and you don't even have to be standing next to the motor.
