Does it actually cut out or just loose throttle response?

What have you checked so far and what led you to replace the injectors. I can't remember if they had drive by wire in '04. If they did I would be looking at the live data for TPS as the fault occurs. Had a later Ford which would loose throttle response after a few miles when the engine was warm. Full throttle just caused it to run rough. Turned out to be the throttle valve. BUT this was probably a 06/07 car. I'm sure prehistoric Ford didn't change to DBW till the later Mondeo...
