I have got a renault with I think multiple problems.
The first being it cuts out within a minute of starting (unless revved)
Second it cuts out due to being revved when coolant temp reaches between 98 - 100*C on live data(I found this during testing not a customer complaint)
The cutting out when warm is due to the crank sensor failing, here are some failure captures.
I have ordered a modified sensor and loom.
My concern is when the vehicle cuts out after a minute of starting it, the crank signal appears to have nothing to do with it.
The ECU appears to control the VVT solenoid valve, and the CAM timing advances to the point where, the engine can not run or the ECU shuts it down.
These captures are at idle.
This is the Crank + CAM timing when car first started note the short on time of the VVT solenoid duty(GOLD)
This trace shows the CRANK + CAM shift shortly after start up and just before the vehicle cuts out note, the CRANK signal is present until the engine stops
The CRANK and CAM sync shifts and the ECU controls the the VVT valve open, according to to duty cycle
Once I have fitted the modified CRANK sensor I will continue to test but I was hoping somebody may have some system knowledge of the renault VVT or may point me in the direction of a ECU input I may need to test that could cause this VVT activation.
The engine runs at idle forever with the VVT solenoid unplugged and the CRANK + CAM sync remains stable
Thanks in advance
James
