Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Size and Code *: 2 ltr - 16v
I would be grateful for your thoughts on this problem with belongs to my brothers wife who lives in Lympsham, Somerset. I have not attended but tried to advise via messaging.
Background: Vehicle initially running badly with EML illuminated. I cannot recall the code that was present but it related to the coil pack. Engineer replaced coil pack but made no difference.
Remedial Work: I came in at this point and he replaced the coil pack with genuine article from Peugeot and spark plugs also from Peugeot. Vehicle ran a lot better but.....the engine note sounded different, slightly high idle speed and hesitation under acceleration. No EML illuminated. He checked for air-leaks etc but nothing was found. Vehicle was scanned by the AA who reported that there was no feed to injectors 1 and 4. and reported an ECM problem. As far as I am aware, the feed does not come from the ECM but only switched by the ECU. Taking a gamble, he sent the ECU to Auto Matec in Plymouth who said they could repair. They have come back to him and said it was an ECU soft-ware problem and cannot fix.
Question: If it is an ECU soft-ware problem, could a re-flash by someone with the relevant equipment solve the problem.....or are we looking at a new ECM? Just to reiterate, EML was extinguished when Dealer plugs and coil pack were fitted and has not been seen since. No current or pending fault codes appear to be shown. Also, if 2 injectors were not working the vehicle would run a lot worse than has been reported! If push comes to shove, any techs in the Lympsham area? Finally, I would have expected fault codes relating to the two injectors.
