This is a reset procedure for a different fault on golf's so may be worth a punt.
Disconnect battery pos for 1 minute
Reset adaptions - (Using VCDS) 01, Read channel 0 (should show 000)
then save
accept save 000 to channel 0 then exit
Ignition off for 1 minute
igntion ON run basic settings for throttle body
wait until ok - leave for 1 minute
Ignition off - wait for 1 minute
Start engine - NO throttle and run for 5 minutes
Turn headlamps on and heater blower - run for further 5 minutes
Clear any fault codes
Road test.
You can trim a sheeps wool many times, but you can only fleece it once !
