Year of Manufacture: 2015 Engine Size and Code: 1200 ( Optional ) ECU Type: Valeo ( Optional) Fault Codes: None
Customer replaced alternator due to poor charge rate (Unknown what was removed) Since then it has not charged at more than 12.3v. I have checked the alternator part number (Denso DAN1071) and this seems to be correct for the car (Unsure if it works ok although he tells me it's the second one from the same supplier !!). I have checked all main connections for volt drop and integrity (Positive and negative), scoped the LIN wire from alternator to engine control and even replaced the wire to double check as engine harness runs around the rear of the engine. No fault codes in engine module and when extra load requested (Ex: HRW / Headlamps etc) the demand showing in live data rises to meet but expected and actual output still 12.3v and measured at anything from 10 - 30A depending on load. Disconnect the LIN lead and voltage rises to 14.5v and current to around 75A ! I cannot see any reason why the engine module would hold the voltage / current output down, the car does not appear to have Stop / Start and there is no battery monitor fitted, I cannnot seem to reset the battery using the scan tool so i would think it does not have this function. Battery tests ok using midtronics tester Any thoughts guys please ??
