Hi. I would think that on a 1999, it would be an electronic speedo. ?? early models had a cable and speed sensor, later models should be an electronic sender unit. If it is the later type, then all you need to check is that the speedo works, if it does then the sender unit must be ok, Also Make sure that some nugget hasn't fitted a non genuine radio and chopped off the plugs, as the speed sensor joins in the radio plug.
