Hi Stuart, the two common problems I get with these is
1 the EGR valve sticks open which gives the MAP sensor a low vac reading causing a rich mixture at no/low throttle
2 the lambda sensor gets coked up and stops working.
Due to age of vehicle cost/involved I normally block off the EGR.
