The AP81 ECUs we are selling are in fact new as correctly stated on the website , they are however sold on an exchange basis. The fault with this car may well be the immobiliser. These ECUs do nothing except jiggle the stepper motor on switch-on when immobilised. The immobiliser shares the same diagnostic lines as the ECU so if it fails , you may not get any comms. The new ECUs are supplied free running , but if the immobiliser is faulty , you will need to disconnect it to get your comms back. Some cars have a separate immobiliser (usually on the bulkhead) but some have it incorporated into the main 'body-controller' module
