    Mercedes .E280 1995 .124 auto - Non starter, crank sensor replaced Archived Message

    Hi everyone,this is a non-start,previously intermittent,have replaced crank sensor wiring harness had been soldered, noisey signal when scoped. New sensor producing steady pattern 7.1 volts cranking, cam sensor signal good.
    Having cleared all fault codes, upon cranking code 064 crank shaft position sensor L5 signal missing/ implausable is logged, returns every time cleared after cranking
    Signals present at ECU, 120 mv drift on earth ciruits cranking ECU supplies 11.2 volts cranking coils live injectors live but no switching. I have bridged out over voltage relay with fused jumpers so relay out of circuit, concluded ECU was at fault, but it ran on a test rig. Does anyone know if these ECU's are critical with signals, ECU is a VDO 412229/006/014 (starting to lose hair now, am I missing something?) any help would be apprieciated.(sorry for the long post) AF
