Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.8 16v 2001 - Heavy missfire and exhaust blow Archived Message

Car came in with heavy misfire and exhaust blow, thought ex blow could possibly be causing misfire so replaced the ex as nec, replaced spark plugs and checked for spark from coil rail, but misfire still present, one plug soots up quickly - no fault codes stored. Any suggestions?
