Mercedes CLK320 coupe 1999 (208) - Drive, then leave for an hour, will not start, fuel pum primes Archived Message

have been looking at this merc all week. if you drive the car for a short distance then leave it for an hour, occasionally it wont start. the owner said he couldnt hear the fuel pump prime.

i finally got it to do it yesterday (just as i was gonna use it to go home). the ecu isnt earthing the fuel pump relay, pin 85. am definitly not losing the live on pin 86 from the main relay. am guessing an ecu fault but am wondering if anyone has had the same fault or if anything else could be the problem. this sytem doesnt prime the pump every time the ignition is cycled. is this normal.

one odd thing, i couldnt get it to start last night (pump not even being primed) untill i plugged the scanner in to check for fault codes. there were none but on actuator test, the fuel pump ran, then i was able to start the car. is this an indication of a different fault?

    regards, Jez.
