Managed to squeeze a few minutes more in to visit this one again. Crank signal good as borne out by live data. Found fuse in interior fusebox for ignition coil had blown. Replaced and restored power to coil. No direct short through any terminal to ground either in loom or through coil but as soon as I plugged the coil back in the fuse blew. No specs for coil available but primary resistance very high (to my mind) @ 80 ohms. Does this indicate a faulty coil?
