VW Golf IV 2003 1.9TDi PD 150 ARL - Rattle noise at idle - FIXED Archived Message

This car came into our workshops just before Christmas but we have never seen it before and it has covered just under 30k from new. The owner was complaining of a rattling noise at idle which it was immediately apparent was the clutch or the gearbox as the noise went away when the clutch was depressed. It became evident that there was something more to this though as the idle was terrible and the exhaust gases stank of un-burnt fuel. I scanned the ECU for fault codes and there was nothing showing but the live data idle smoothing running control figures indicated a problem with number four cylinder. We removed the cam cover and could see immediately that the exhaust lobe on number four cylinder was damaged and when removed, the lifter had a visible indentation on the top. After talking to the customer, we found it had been serviced by an independent garage and PD oil had not been used. We fitted (all parts are genuine) a new cam, lifters, injector rockers and contact pins, timing belt and water pump using genuine VAG locking tools and set it up to the specs shown in ELSA 3.3 and ran it up on Quantum PD oil which we will change for Longlife before the car goes out. One point we have noticed though is that from the 3.13 copy of ELSA the PD information for setting the injector rockers was an anticlockwise turn of 225 degrees but it is now 180 degrees which is what we have set it to. Now, the idle is a lot better and the un-burnt diesel smell significantly reduced but it isn’t right and the performance feels reduced. I get the feeling number two injector is the problem but I wanted some more opinions.

I have tried to include a screen shot from VAG-COM and failed, I don't know what I am doing wrong.
