Renault Laguna 1998 2.0 8v - No start Archived Message

    Hi All,
This has a coil and distributor, but 'fraid I don't know which engine it is as it's not in Autodata. No start caused by Fuel Pump relay coil not being grounded by ECU (i.e. battery voltage all the time!). If I ground it engine starts and runs fine. I have continuity back to pin 6 on the ECU where I can monitor exactly the same voltages. Is this an ECU fault, or a strange wiring fault (loss of an earth)? I'm going for the former , but thought I would check!! I've looked for earths on back block/cylinder head by timing cover but can't find any. Wouldn't have thought a lost earth would just stop a FP relay being energised though!!
    Regards,
    Nick Bell
