    Hi Jon ,
    If the car is now starting with a good battery and then cuts out flagging both cam and crank sensor faults you really need to establish the number of times either faults stored . also when it cuts out how does it then restart / long cranking times ? . To be sure you really need to scope the cam and crank signals when it wont start to see which if any you are loosing . As for the map cooling fault these engines have the electronic controlled thermostat ( controlled via the DME ) and you will almost certainly find the thermostat has broken internally giving the fault code , you check this very easily by removing the thermostat you will probably find it in two parts not one . If this is the case simply replace it and clear the fault it should not have caused any further damage but bear in mind this should not affect the starting fault.
