I have the 2000 sharan and on one long journey the oil light came on in yellow which was a bit of a worry did not have any info with me i just guessed it was a level warning stopped and topped up oil light went out just reading the handbook quote "if the warning lamp flashes red when driving and an acoustic signal sounds three times as an additional warning at engine speeds above 1500 rpm indicatig low oil pressure stop " hope it is some help maybe it had low oil pressure problem before or as often happens the oil pressure switch had died in sympathy could be up the wrong tree
