Hi Gary If im understanding your thread right,you have a problem when plugs are fitted,this can indeed be due high resistance in starter circuit,The additional current required when plugs fitted can reduce the voltage enough in ucu circuit to prevent starting as a lot of vehicle ucu's need to see 10.5v on cranking. We have been finding this quite a lot on the focus and have cured problem by replacing starter motor. It may be that it needs a elec/tec more qualified than me to explain fully. Regards Tony
