Nissan Almera Tino 2001 (51) 1.8 - Misfire when driving, engine revs rise and fall 200rpm # Archived Message

I have an Almera in my shop that has the following problem: at idle the engine "churns" and the revs rise and fall by 200 rpm, when driving a misfire appears that I can best describe as similar to a leaky HT.The only fault code that presents itself is crank sensor. When I scope the sensor it reads perfectly, all other readings at ECU are fine with the exception of knock sensor this shows 2v and momentarily drops to around .50v when tapped.
When scope crank over cam the cam signal moves away from the crank signal as the misfire occurs. The vehicle has variable valve timing. Any ideas before I spend any more time on this one! P.S. I have substituted the crank sensor with a known good one and the problem persists. Maf reading looks good too throttle body cleaned fuel pressure good gas readings good.
