The mod for the cooling system temp sensor is a short length of harness and a resistor and it changes the sensor voltage seen at the ecu. I am 99% certain it was to correct an overfueling situation when very cold. You may have a faulty Oxygen sensor. Remove it and bench test it with a propane torch and voltmeter as sugested in fuel parts web site. Could be caused by silicon contaminated fuel sold by Tesco in late Februay.
