Hi Stewart. I wonder if P0100 should actually be P1000. OBD system checks not completed, Drive cycle required. ??

I have the same Vehicle in the workshop at the moment and that leaves p1000 in permanently. ( not had chance to driver it yet ), This Problem is caused due to Shabby workmanship by Ford, and Them not doing a Recall even though they know about this problem, Which is caused by a badly taped up wiring harness and poor sealing on a grommet above the ecu. Not helped by the fact that they have designed it so that the ecu cannot be removed without Removing the complete dashboard as the ecu slides out of a steel box on the N/side Kick Panel, When you eventually get to the Ecu, You find that the plug is held in by a Shear bolt and has to be drilled out. I suppose the last 2 items are due to someone Like Thatcham insisting on security devices being fitted, But this is a ridiculous situation to leave a customer in with a 4 Year old 22,000 mile car, Ecu £366.00 + vat, and wiring harness is recommended by Ford at £563.00+ vat, Plus The odd Day or so's Labour etc. ????? On a car worth around £2000.00 or so. ?? This is a typical modern motor car and the whole situation stinks, These Manufacturers Should have to pay for their Mistakes and not pass it onto the customer. ?? Anyway that's another Manufacturer off my Shopping list.
