I have had my fair share of shit off from this engine. I have the same car and same engine in the workshop at the moment. I did post a message last week on this site and no one could help
However after spending lots more time on it I finally come across the problem.I found it. These engines are prone to timing chain tensioner failure. But it only causes the exhaust cam to move slightly out about 1/2-1 tooth. My car had lots of fault codes and I was told by dealer any faults always start by checking the timing. Quick simple check, dip cylinder number one cylinder to find T/D/C the remove the x2 10mm inspection caps off rear or cams to find slots like mondeo/vectra etc the must both be flat in line with cam cover. My inlet cam was 3-9 o clock but my exhaust cam was 2-8 oclock.Check this first.
