    I have had a similar problem recently.

    It was caused by the ABS controller messing with the CAN signals in the gearbox and cluster.If you disconnect the ABS and reset the fault codes all you should have is the ABS light and red warning light flashing.(and gearbox working correctly)

    The fault I had was the engine rpm was corrupt.This was causing the 00529 code.I had comms with the ABS unit which did not help as I discounted it as there were no faults stored in that ! When looking at the live data, the engine rpm was ok in the engine ecu but dropping out in the gearbox and cluster units.It is not represented in the ABS .

    After testing "everything " the fault actually got more frequent and was easier to find.The clue was the SRS lost comms intermittantly causing me to look at the CAN network.

    Hope this saves you many hours of diagnosis .
