The V6 has two types of valve on the intake system, a power valve (six off) and a balance valve (one off). The motors operating them are mounted on the intake plenum, one on the left and one on the right as you look at the engine from front. I think the one at the left rear (o/s) is the balance valve and the right one is for the power valves. The valves themselves can be prone to sticking and then the cheap crap motors (like toy car motors) burn out or chew up the tiny plastic gears. Only a few screws hold them onto the intake, but make sure the connecting rod is positioned correctly when you re-fit motor. The motors do not appear to be "stepper motors that know their own position". If you remove the flap the motor will just run and run until you put pressure on the motor spindle (I assume the current is monitored by ecu to switch motor off when at the end of it's travel). I've run with them disconnected and it's just the power delivery and torque that is different. Agree with other comments about fuel accumulator in tank being the problem of cutting out.Graham
