    Hi Guys,
Just had a job in whose fix may prove useful.
This Taxicab had failed its test on CO to high 6-7%). Ran through KTS which picked up a code for 'catalyst efficiency'. The Dealers had already charged this guy for diagnosing a faulty cat and a requirement for a 'modified ECU'! When I checked the emissions I found them OK at idle but as soon as any load was put on the engine (fast idle) the CO shot up. I suspected either a blocked cat or the mass-air -flow sensor. The exhaust had no back pressure and, after a sneaky call to the workshop at The Toyota dealers, it turns out that this sensor is a relatively common failiure on a number of Toyotas. With a new MAF fitted all emissions now perfect.
The reason for posting this is that I couldn't find anything on the archives for this fault on Toyotas.
I Hope this may be of help to someone.
    Cheers - Paul.
